The World Famous Daytona International Speedway
The world famous Daytona International Speedway was founded in Daytona Beach over 60 years ago. The 2.5 mile tri-oval track now has enough seats for 168,000 spectators. This is the home of the Rolex 24, Coke Zero 400 and the Daytona 500. The Daytona 500 is considered the most important NASCAR race. The drivers log 500 miles in 200 laps.
The International Speedway hosts races of all different types of vehicles, not just stock cars. Sports cars, pick-up trucks, go-karts and motorcycles can all be seen on the track in Daytona. The International Speedway has even hosted a half marathon put on by the city of Daytona Beach.
While vacationing in Daytona Beach the International Speedway is a great place to visit. It is quite exciting for the adults as well as the kids to see such a great part of racing history.
