Daytona Beach Hotelier to Continue
Commitment to Habitat for Humanity
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2007) -
Following their successful 2007 partnership with the Southeast
Volusia Habitat for Humanity, the family-owned Bahama House and
Best Western Aku Tiki Inn in Daytona Beach have renewed their
commitment to the program for 2008.
Owned by Staed Family Associates, the two
beachfront hotels raised $57,000 through the Community Contribution
Tax-Credit program, which funded 100 percent of construction
materials for a three-bedroom, two-bath home. Additionally, the
Staed Family Associates and the United Way Women's Initiative
provided more than 200 volunteer hours toward the construction of
the home, which is now the residence of a single mother and her two
children, ages 12 and 15.
'The tax-credit program is a unique opportunity
to assist people right here in Volusia County,' said Blaine
Lansberry, President of Staed Family Associates. 'We value the
mission of the Southeast Volusia Habitat for Humanity and look
forward to giving our time and effort again to this very worthy
cause in 2008.'
Daytona Beach residents since 1960, members of the Staed family
have been active in the local hotel industry for nearly 60 years.
At the peak of their ventures, they ran 11 hotels, accounting for
1,500 rooms and 9,000 square feet of meeting space in the Daytona
Beach area. Currently, Staed Hotels maintains two boutique hotels,
catering to families, golfers, corporate travel executives, and
meeting planners desiring the best of Daytona's beach
experience.
